Last Minute Gift Ideas
By: Bryn Huber
The chaos of the holiday season is unmatched. With winter break approaching nowhere near fast enough and shop items flying off the shelves, 'tis the season of endless headaches. With everyone scrambling to get everything done before the holidays begin, it might be hard to think of a sincere, heartwarming gift to give to a family member or friend. Fear not, as I am here to offer you readers of the Conard Courant my unsolicited gift-giving advice. Just like many of you, I too am a last-minute shopper. Thus, in this article, just as the title states, I will be offering some great last-minute gift ideas for procrastinators like myself!

Holiday-Themed Socks

You can’t make a gift idea list without socks. I mean, seriously, who doesn't like a good pair of socks? Especially when socks disappear after just one use and a trip to the washing machine. The problem of only having one sock from a pair is a major one that appears to be unsolvable. Nonetheless, they are adaptable, as they can be festive for the holidays or plain and good regardless. I would personally enjoy receiving a solid pair of socks this holiday season. Classic, timeless, and easy to find. Overall, a 10/10 in my book.

Beautifully-Scented Candles
Candles make another appearance in one of my articles, and for good reason. Candles are another solid, easy gift that I personally would love to receive. They smell good and last for a long time. There are a variety of scents that you can choose from to personalize your gift by choosing the recipient's favorite one. I would not, however, recommend giving this gift to a younger sibling. Fire and young children are never a good combination. But for parents or a responsible friend, this is perfect! Simple yet timeless—another 10/10 gift.

Handmade Card

This is my personal go-to for last-minute gift ideas. It’s personal and demonstrates that you took the time and effort to create something for someone. If you're feeling daring, you could even put it together on the day of gift-giving! However, it’s important to make these meaningful. For example, you could include some nice drawings, the person's favorite color, a kind message, or, if you’re feeling creative, a DIY gift to add in. Of course, for most people, this is not the ideal gift. But if you’re running on a tight budget and schedule, this is the right gift for you! Meaningful and cute! A strong 7/10.
The holiday season is for spending time with family and friends. Although giving and receiving gifts is a ritual for many during this time of year, these gifts don’t have to be flashy or large. Just showing that you care is enough. As some say, "It's the thought that counts."
