The Most Memorable Super Bowl LX Commercials

By Julia Hathorn

No matter the team you root for when it comes Super Bowl time every February, a constant entertainment feature of every Super Bowl is the commercials that play alongside the football game. Because the Super Bowl is the most watched American television event every year with well over 100 million viewers on average, brands reach the largest audience when displaying their products on commercials during the breaks of the game. Because of this, networks broadcasting the game charge a large fee for brands to get their 30-second commercials on air. For Super Bowl LX, a 30-second commercial cost on average 8 million dollars, with some prime viewing spots costing over $10 million. Because of this price, brands aim to sell the most products by making their commercials memorable for viewers, often through techniques such as humor or nostalgia. We’ll examine three Super Bowl LX commercials that do a perfect job of getting their message across while also making their commercials memorable, all within 30 seconds.

Dunkin’ Donuts 2026 Super Bowl Commercial: Good Will Dunkin’ (1)

Dunkin’ Donuts brought heavy nostalgia to the stage this year with the usage of a plethora of iconic actors from the 90’s and the early 2000’s. These celebrity features included but were not limited to: Ben Affleck (Good Will Hunting), Jennifer Aniston (Friends), Matt LeBlanc (Friends), Alfonso Ribeiro (Fresh Prince of Bel-Air), and Tom Brady, iconic former quarterback of the New England Patriots, as well as so many other icons of the past. The ad centered around a parody of the 1997 film “Good Will Hunting”, but this time set in a Dunkin’ Donuts. This ad utilized humor and nostalgia for viewers from older generations to remain lingering in people’s minds after the ad was over.

State Farm

State Farm, like Dunkin’, utilized both nostalgia and celebrity to make their ad memorable to audiences. State Farm’s ad featured Hailee Steinfeld, Keegan-Micheal Kay, Danny McBride, Jon Bon Jovi and Katseye, as well as their iconic character, Jake from Statefarm. The ad was set to Jon Bon Jovi’s timeless 1986 pop hit, Livin’ on a Prayer. The message of the commercial was that any other insurance company would only apply their services half-way, but with State Farm you wouldn’t have to “Live on a prayer” because State Farm would always be there for you. The song choice appealed to older generations, and the use of younger celebrities appealed to younger audiences, making this ad entertaining across generations.

                                                         Google

Google Gemini 2026 Super Bowl Commercial: New Home (3)

This ad stands out amongst others because of its simplicity. The commercial shows pictures of an empty home, asking Google Gemini to envision its future. Throughout the ad, there’s a voiceover of a little boy asking his mother about what things they’ll have in their “New Home.” It concludes with a clip of that boy running around the backyard of this “New Home”, smiling. This ad uses the technique of pathos in a positive way to make the viewer feel happy or content whilst watching it. It also reflects very positively on Google Gemini, making it appear as if Google Gemini lessened the child’s fears about living in a new home.

All in all, the most effective and memorable Super Bowl LX commercials were the ones that used humor, celebrity, nostalgia, music, and warm feelings. These commercials not only entertained viewers, but also proved why television advertisement remains one of the most influential advertising mediums in America today.
