Shades of Blue

By: Anonymous

bandaids can’t cover up the bruises on my brain

strings tie my smile tight but still the tears fall

watering the growing abyss

the seeds planted by my worries

grown from the fluorescent light in my eyes

that will be harvested until I die

I forget happy thoughts and they wither in vain

and the faucet behind my eyes is turned on

again

shades of blue are the only colors I can see

and there’s quiet, once again

Quiet is not just something that you can hear, you can feel it too

I hear calls that it’s time for dinner

time to lace up that smile once again
