Conard Students Recognized By NCWIT

By: Rebeccah Fleischmann

In the first-ever virtual session, the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) awarded 750 winners from all 50 states and several countries on their aspiration for careers in computer science and prior success in the technology field. This award ceremony included speakers from the Bank of America, Microsoft, Apple, and other top technology companies.

Conard students Abigail Tonkinson and Rebeccah Fleischmann were celebrated as Connecticut winners of the NCWIT Aspirations in Computing Award. Both are very grateful for the vast opportunities in computer science that Conard has given them, from Exploring Computer Science to AP Computer Science A. Ethel Chen, Helen Nguyen, Aaliyah Norton, and Katie O’Leary received the NCWIT Connecticut Honorable Mention. Mary Capone and Alexandra Hudson won the NCWIT Connecticut Certificate of Distinction.

Congrats to our Conard girls in computer science! We are proud of you! :)
