CONARD MUSICAL PREVIEW
Elizabeth Thibault
This year’s Conard Musical is Singin’ In The Rain, a well-known movie and musical set in the 1920s. During this time, black and white silent films were making the transition to “talking pictures,” and the musical plays with this overall idea. There was therefore a tension between live artistic productions and more prepared presentations complete with sound-mixing and stunning visuals. Despite its complex historical background, the plot of this musical is fun, active, and entertaining for everyone.
This production features Charlie Uthgenannt (Don Lockwood), Gabby Urso (Kathy Selden), Matt Vitelli (Cosmo Brown), and Zoe Healey (Lina Lamont), as well as many others in the cast, crew, and pit orchestra. Singin’ In The Rain is filled with song and dance numbers, led by Mr. Eurich and Mr. Porter (music directors) and Renee Sutherland (choreographer). It is once again directed by Ms. Kravetz, and music, blocking, dance, and pit orchestra rehearsals are all well underway and making great progress. Set production is happening almost every Saturday, and all the hard work is helping the show look amazing.
We encourage you to come to show your support for the Conard Musical. You can see the shows on March 8, 9, 15, and 16 at 7:00 pm, or on March 10 at 2:00 pm. We hope to see you there!
